Growth of Carbon Nano-onions in the Open Air by Laser Resonant Excitation of Precursor Molecules N305

چکیده
In this paper, a highly efficient method was developed for the growth of CNOs in open air by effectively coupling the laser energy into the combustion flames through the resonant excitation of C2H4 molecules. CNOs with concentric graphitic shells were obtained at the wavelength of 10.532 μm compared with those grown without laser. The CNO growth rate at the wavelength of 10.532 μm is 2.1 g/h. Laser scattering of the CNO particles during the synthetic process indicates the formation of the CNO particles is ascribed to the direct decomposition of the C2H4 molecules into solid carbons on surfaces of growing particles

Control of crystallographic orientation in diamond synthesis through laser resonant vibrational excitation of precursor molecules
Crystallographic orientations determine the optical, electrical, mechanical, and thermal properties of crystals. Control of crystallographic orientations has been studied by changing the growth parameters, including temperature, pressure, proportion of precursors, and surface conditions. However, molecular dynamic mechanisms underlying these controls remain largely unknown. Here we achieved con...
متن کاملInfluence of resonant and non-resonant vibrational excitation of ammonia molecules in gallium nitride synthesis
Attempts on the selective promotion of gallium nitride (GaN) growth were investigated by deploying laserassisted vibrational excitation of reactant molecules, which deposits energy selectively into specific molecules and activate the molecules towards the selected reaction pathways. Laser-assisted metal organic chemical vapor deposition (LMOCVD) of GaN was studied using a wavelength-tunable CO2...
متن کاملEffects of Acoustic Modulation and Mixed Fuel on Flame Synthesis of Carbon Nanomaterials in an Atmospheric Environment
In this study, methane-ethylene jet diffusion flames modulated by acoustic excitation in an atmospheric environment were used to investigate the effects of acoustic excitation frequency and mixed fuel on nanomaterial formation. Acoustic output power was maintained at a constant value of 10 W, while the acoustic excitation frequency was varied (f = 0-90 Hz). The results show that the flame could...
متن کاملEnhanced Synthesis of Carbon Nanomaterials Using Acoustically Excited Methane Diffusion Flames
Acoustically modulated methane jet diffusion flames were used to enhance carbon nanostructure synthesis. A catalytic nickel substrate was employed to collect the deposit materials at sampling position z = 10 mm above the burner exit. The fabrication of carbon nano-onions (CNOs) and carbon nanotubes (CNTs) was significantly enhanced by acoustic excitation at frequencies near the natural flickeri...
متن کاملProduction and Analysis of Clusters and Nanoparticles
Laser desorption mass spectrometry was used in the production and analysis of gas phase metal sulfur clusters. Clusters of gas phase aluminum, gallium, and indium sulfur were produced and analyzed using a time-of-flight mass spectrometer. Also, carbon nano-onions produced by an arc between graphite electrodes in water and the annealing of nanodiamonds were analyzed. The sulfur experiments were ...
